Untitled (Just Blue) 2023: Research of materiality, light, and form is the foundation for Wittmann’s work. Her use of cast shadows, spatial awareness, and form decenters the necessity of a tangible art object within contemporary artwork. Wittmann’s work references and pays tribute to the Light and Space movement, while also using the environment of the present. These elements converse with movement within a space and spiritual connections, similar to stained glass windows and the landscapes outside them.
